July 2007 Our first article written in Australian Quilter's Companion magazine. To read this article you can visit here... QUILT SHOWS2-3rd June 2007 at Aspley East State School Quilt ShowMachine quilting professionals assist with fund raising efforts everywhere. One local show staged by several local groups earlier this month on the north side of Brisbane, Queensland was an overwhelming success. Over 120 beautiful quilts made by members of Aspley 9-Patches; Braeside Quilters and others, were on display in the new activities centre at the Aspley East State School attracting over 500 visitors during the weekend. Many of the quilts had been commercially quilted by members of AMQA. If the success of such a show is to be measured by the visitors’ comments and funds raised, then this show was in deed successful. “Beautiful Show”, “Amazing Qulting”, “Quilting is a Credit to You”, ‘Inspiring work”, to name a few. Over $2,000 was raised for the Breast Cancer Appeal and a huge contribution was made possible towards much needed equipment for the school. Lots of work and time goes into preparing an event of this scale but the rewards are many. Everyone had a really fun time. June 2007As a service to all, we have formed a yahoo group to complement our forums! We welcome open discussion about all facets of machine quilting and the machine quilting industry including upcoming events, exhibitions, how-to, what's new, suppliers' news, commercial advertisements and general quilting-related Q & A.Membership of this list is open to everyone involved in the machine quilting industry including machine quilters, quilting machine dealers and suppliers of machine quilting products. This list is moderated by volunteers from the Australian Machine Quilting Association Inc on a rotating roster.2nd April 2007 Our first AGM is held using our forums and telephone conference calls to form a quorum and a democratic voice for all members to participate in Australia wide. Our new committee was elected to lead AMQA Inc into the future. 26th February 2007Australian Machine Quilters Exhibition 2007 is announced by Vic Quilters! This will be the first of it's type held in Australia, so we need ALL machine quilters - domestic, shortarm & longarm quilters to enter to make it a success! 17th February 2007Our website is up! | ||||||||||
